Dealing with Current Events - ChatGPT vs Bard

Current Events - ChatGPT vs Bard

And the winner of round one is - Google Bard - It appears that Google Bard accesses and processes information from various current sources, including websites, social media, and real-time video feeds that ChatGPT can’t (today, this will likely change). This gives Bard a more complete picture of what is happening worldwide today and allows me to provide more up-to-date information.  Currently, the ChatGPT model stops at 2021 data limiting its ability to provide current updates.

As per my earlier post, I’m impressed with Bard's fusion layer. It is constantly learning and improving. This allows the model to keep up with the latest news and trends.

Here are a few examples of how live news or weather is incorporated:

  • It can provide updates on breaking events as they happen.

  • Provides commentary on current events.

  • Answer questions about events.

  • It can even generate creative content about current events, such as poems, code, scripts, musical pieces, emails, letters, etc.

Google’s ability to incorporate live content in a meaningful and engaging way is one of its strengths and a big gap in ChatGPT.  Here’s a simple example of live content with commentary, Q&A, and Narrative.  I’ll start with ChatGPT and then go to Bard.

Google Bard is better at fusing various data sources together today.  Microsoft will likely overcome this limitation soon, so we are still in the early stages of this game. Integration with Office, Docs and Dev tools will likely be the game changers so buckle in and get ready, the next several months will be interesting. I’m currently updating the Epics and User stories that I wrote for Bing Intergration (if I owned Bing).  I will try to get those out later this week.
